Hot Girl Walks - is it just a TikTok trend?
If you’re on social media much, you’ve probably seen or heard about the infamous “Hot Girl-Walk”. This latest craze quickly rose to popularity - courtesy of Mia Lind, a college student and fitness influencer. Thing is, trends always come and go - so is this one worth your time? Keep reading to find out what the hype is all about!
Do you ever just dread working out? Sometimes this is a huge, pressuring commitment and you just want to put it off. We know going to the gym can be a big, scary chore. But hot girl-walking is as simple as going for a short walk (or long!) and best of all, it's all up to you!
It blew up because it's such a basic concept - I mean, just walking right? It definitely is just that - but think of it as a twenty-first century refresh. It combines exercise and positive thinking - we honestly can’t think of a more iconic duo!
You’re only allowed to think about 3 things during your walk - your goals, what you're grateful for and arguably the most crucial - how hot you are! Yes, you heard that right. You are hot. We know it sounds super cringe - but even if you don't believe it at first, eventually you can trick your brain into being more confident and exude those positive vibes. Fake it till you make it and eventually you won’t have to anymore! As long as you keep repeating it to yourself on your walk (believe it or not), this will subconsciously help boost your self-esteem.
The only other ‘rules’ are to try “hot-girl walk” daily and definitely do it outdoors. Don’t worry too much about the length - make do with whatever you can manage, even if it’s only 5 minutes a day! Remember, the point of this isn't to lose weight or see some crazy big physical improvement. The most important thing is your state of mind and how you choose to think about yourself. It’s to transform your mindset from the inside-out rather than focusing so much on the superficial.
What other benefits are there? Other than contributing to your daily step count, you get to step outside for some sun! Absorbing all that nutritious Vitamin D helps with bone strength so your body can support itself and be healthy. Moving even for 5-10 minutes boosts our feel-good hormones and this can lift your energy for the rest of the day. It’s a great mood booster which will last for hours on end.
Not only that, keeping up this daily habit will have a butterfly effect on other areas of your life. Of course, when you’re straight up vibing, relishing in your piping-hot self, and radiating positive energy, you’re taking the emphasis off exercise. It’s a win-win activity that experts say is a great boost to both your physical and mental health. It’s done in a realistic way to give you a mind reset and build your confidence. In a world filled with toxic fitness challenges, this uplifting one is just what we needed. Even better, it’s recommended to people of all ages - so don’t be tricked into thinking you’re too young or old to start.
With so many trends floating around nowadays, we can say this is one we can stand behind. You don’t need to suffer through intensive circuit training or lift weights at the gym in order to help you and your body look (and feel) good. Walking is still a form of exercise - and a super underrated one at that! It gets your body up and active - and that’s the most important thing!
